SUGAR @ Jaslyn Cakes (Bangsar)

Be enticed by the fragrant smell of freshly baked cakes as soon as you step through the doors of Jaslyn Cakes. With its cozy environment and friendly owner, it is obvious that SUGAR has found our favourite hangout spot for a carefree weekend.

To say that you'll be spoiled for choice would be an understatement. With an array of dessert choices, you're bound to find a few that you'll like!

CHALLENGE: Why not take your time off every weekend and try out every single dessert that Jaslyn Cakes has to offer? ;)

If you're really stumped like we were, don't be afraid to ask! The owner and her team are always more than willing to give out recommendations.

For starters, we kicked off our dessert session with these little ones. However, don't be fooled by their simplistic appearance as they pack quite a punch of flavours! Relying heavily on the butter's fragrance, these Madeleines should just be called Little Perfections instead.

If you're in need of a midday pick-me-up, they've got just the fix for you! Featuring a distinctive taste of velvety dark chocolate filling, their Salted Caramel Choc Tart garnished with hazelnuts and edible golden pearls were perfectly baked. As simplistic as it looks, it is actually a complicated dessert with multiple layers of taste ingeniously infused into a single bite.

Missing home? Then the next ones that we tasted will definitely transport you back to your grandma's kitchen. As I was growing up, banana loafs were one of my home's staple desserts. While the Banana Yogurt Loaf we tasted at Jaslyn Cakes has a definite chicness and modern taste to it, a huge part of me was reminded of the ones I ate growing up. Bonus nostalgia points right there!

Ever had a strong craving for cheesecake, only to be disappointed by it by the second bite? Well, that's the usual case for me. Most of the cheesecakes out there has an overwhelming flavour of everything that just doesn't sit well on my tastebuds. Lucky for me, I've found one Vanilla Bean Cheesecake that I can finish a whole slice! #NoWastage

For a more palate refresher, the shop's Rose Water Pistachio Baby Cake is the go-to dessert. Boasting a unique taste of earthiness due to the pistachio, it is quickly lightened by the soft touch of rose water. Drizzled with icing and finally topped with a lovely piece of rose petal, it's super insta-worthy!

More interested in fresh cream desserts? Jaslyn Cakes has got you cream lovers covered too with their famous Victoria Sponge and Pavlova

Victoria Sponge has got light cream and blueberry jam spread in between the layers of soft sponge cakes that are lightly browned to perfection, while Pavlova is a traditional meringue dessert filled with whipped cream in the middle and topped with fresh strawberries and passionfruit.

With all these great desserts paired with a friendly environment, it's very safe to say that this won't be the last time that SUGAR will be visiting Jaslyn Cakes! <3
